True & Better

Advent Devotional

Advent means "arrival" and signifies the start of an event or the arrival of a person. In Christian churches around the world, Advent refers to a four-week season of remembering and celebrating the arrival of Jesus on Earth. It’s a time to reflect on the unexpected nature of Jesus’ humble birth and join in the anticipation of when He will come again to reunite Heaven and Earth once and for all.

Advent can be a simple and fun tradition of counting down to Christmas. But for others—particularly those who believe Jesus to be the incarnation of God and the long-awaited Messiah—Advent is a shared experience of meditation and prayer that celebrates the arrival of Jesus.

At Midtown we will begin Advent on Sunday, Dec. 1 and will run through our Christmas Eve gathering. To help those of you wanting to be more purposeful in Advent observance this year we are providing an Advent devotional titled, True and Better, in book or online PDF form. The devotional will begin on December 1 and will run through Christmas Day. Books will be available at the Connect Desk on November 24 and Dec. 1. The PDF version is also available below.

We pray that you all have a blessed and wonderful Advent Season and the glory of Christmas is experienced by all. Many thanks to Northview Church in helping us with the sharing of the devotional.
